Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the virtues of family football academic scholarship with volunteerism in the community. At first his parents raised him by Lucious Selmon and Jessie on their Eufala farm. He was their youngest of nine children. In football, he was with his three brothers for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-American teams. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the national by Outland as well as Lombardi. Outland Awards. Oklahoma was the winner of two National Championships in the span of three seasons as the lineman. On his third scholarship, he was named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Fourth service In the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week in volunteer projects. He moved to Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and also the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of America's top young men. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 lbs. He captained his college team in the year 1975. He was named the associate director of athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. He and his parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
